Watch the decibel-level (80-plus) – and join the heard!!!!
ALL club committees and officers, plus pub-licensees MUST be made aware of the fact that legislation on noise-levels has changed!
The Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005 (introduced in 2006) now affects workers in the music and entertainment industries.
This definition includes not only clubs, but also pubs (indeed, ANYWHERE that plays live- or recorded-music!).
However, clubs must assess the ‘noise-risk’, if the exposure is likely to reach eighty decibels.
If music is ‘live’ and amplified, the club may assume that it needs to take action – the requirement being to protect employees’ hearing, if exposure-levels are likely to reach or be above 85 decibels!
